Fridays @ Five: Five Things We Loved this Week

Every Friday, we send out an exclusive list of five unique or interesting things we’ve found (or explored) around the web during the week.

It may include books, gadgets, albums, articles, new hacks/tricks, and — of course — all sorts of weird stuff we dig up around the web. It’s often focused on Intuitive things and personal growth. Please feel free to spread the word with friends who would also enjoy.

Here’s some great stuff to check out over the coming weekend…

Something that I’ve been trying to improve in my development journey is remembering and keeping track of events. I recently found a Buzzfeed post explaining what a “bullet journal” is, and I was so taken with the idea that I started one immediately. It helps me log my emotions and activities from day to day, and it’s incredibly helpful for my memory when I write down events and appointments throughout the week.

I think people often make the mistake of thinking that humans from hundreds or thousands of years ago were much more different, and either more or less intelligent than “kids nowadays.” Aside from the evolutionary bias of thinking modern youths are dumb- called juvenoia- . Wikipedia’s article on the Beware of Dog sign has photos of Roman mosaics that served the same purpose. To me, it’ a good reminder that, at least for the last few thousand years, human behavior has remained largely consistent. Click here to read the article.

I’m on my computer all the time. I’m also often laying in bed or sitting at a desk while online- which is something that’s not too great for my laptop. A vented stand will keep your laptop from overheating as quickly and slowly ruining the hardware. I have been looking into vented laptop stands to help extend the life of my most prized possession. Click here to shop.

4. Youtube: Myers Briggs Relationship

These girls have one of my favorite Youtube channels. Alyx and Kelsey are roommates- one is an ENFP, and the other an INTJ. These are sketches of their lives together. Hilarity ensues. Click here to see the channel.

I’m a data nerd. I love collecting pieces of information and storing them in my brain for future use. (Accuracy brains are weird.) History is a great subject for data collecting, and Stuff You Missed in History Class is a great resource for learning pieces of history that you may not be familiar with in an interesting and informative way. I recommend the episode about Walter Potter, famous cat wedding taxidermist, or the episode about Queen Victoria’s wedding. Click here to listen.

So there you have it. Of course these picks reflect some of my personal biases and interests – but having hung around the Personality Hacker community for a while now – and being personal growth focused – I’m pretty sure you will find at least one thing from the above list to be interesting.
