One topic that really caught my attention towards the end of the podcast was the recommendation of finding activities that support integrating opposite cognitive functions. I would love to hear a podcast that takes a deep dive into how that works, what it would look like in practice and hear some ideas and examples for various pairs of opposites.

In the meantime I would be curios to hear ideas and suggestions out there that others I have found good for development work for ISTPs to strengthen 3rd & 4th functions of introverted intuitive and extraverted feeling either alone or paired with their opposites. Reading through the introverted thinking chapter for Magic Diamond a ‘mind-body’ practice mentioned with Yoga highly recommended, but I have a hard time thinking of something less appealing as I find yoga both highly boring as physical activity and very awkward from a social/extraverted harmony perspective with weird cultural/spiritual aspects I both don’t get and find really hard to try with any conviction sitting in a room of others. Perhaps my personal resistance means it is an area for growth but it feels more like it is a poor fit for me as it doesn’t seem to be supporting either the mind or body for me beyond being an awkward way to work on stretching and strength while trying to ignore how uncomfortable the whole yoga environment/culture makes me feel. I do like many other sports and outdoor activities and like the idea of matching them up with something that uses/supports extraverted harmony but not sure if what is being recommend is something as simple as a group sport or there are other aspects that make something better for engaging both accuracy and harmony at the same time. So I would much appreciate any ideas and discussion of what I need to look for in a mind-body practice that would make it good for engaging the opposite functions…or if I even have my head correctly wrapped around the idea of meant by engaging the opposite cognitive functions.

Thanks in advance for any advice or discussion. I also appreciate you doing these two podcasts going more into the Magic Diamond. I had been really intrigued by some of your earlier podcasts on the shadow functions and using the Magic Diamond as a development tool. I ordered the book shortly after it came out but had a really hard time following and applying what was in there and these last two podcasts made it make a lot more sense.

You no longer have to go into Socionics to access the four function groups. Linda Berens and Chris Montoya have recognized the groups in what they are calling the “Intentional Styles”. (Instead of “alpha”, the SFJ/NTP group is called “Enhancing”).

Would love a podcast on what was touched on just at the end. How to best make use of the magic diamond book. I bought it and would love a discussion on this as an INFP that finds it hard to plan things.

    Thanks, guys.

      Thanks for the comment Daniel.

We actually just hosted two live workshops on the Magic Diamond last month with Dr. Nardi for this very reason. If you are subscribed to our email newsletter you will get alerts when we host these again.

In the future, we will probably develop a full digital program around the Magic Diamond as well.
