I am fairly new to the Meyers Briggs system of personality typing. Formerly it’ was used by women principals on incoming teachers to determine who would fit in with their view of how things should work in their little fiefdoms. I always gave false answers to indicate I was a dutiful extrovert gushing with emotions. I recently took a test, gave true answers and came up with INTP. What a revelation. There is nothing broken, bent or deficient about me. There are others like me and we are not warped.
I am learning what I can from books on typography and trying to study my friends and those I meet. I am doing volunteer work with my local crisis intervention organization to put my masters degree in counseling psychology to work. If I can find a course online I will likely take one, but I am not able to travel at this time.

Oh man! This was a long wait but I’m glad it’s here :D

I definitely resonate with Normalizing and Harmonizing to an extent. Probably Normalizing early in life and slowly becoming Harmonizing in my 40’s.

Might be worth getting into analytic Ne one of these days…

I’ve been waiting on this episode in this series. I feel more aligned with the creative INTP since I’m interested in building platforms that allow me to express my interests and the concepts I like to think about. Even the list of jobs sounded the most interesting. My actual day jobs have been the normalizing types (lot of retail and office jobs) that have always been boring to me, but aren’t too demanding and I can still have some freedom to explore other interests. This episode just have me more confirmation of my type.

Of course, this was the last one in the series, waiting almost 4 months was painful!
I was trying to figure out why I typed so differently based on what head space I was in.
I volunteer as a director for an NFP and work as a supervisor, typically typing out as an ENTP, but it’s just the Dominant INTP Flavor.
I also Work on the mundane day to day and coach in a low-level capacity in sports, sometimes typing out as an INTJ, again just the normalizing INTP flavor.
In my home life I’m almost always in the creative flavor and have typed as an ENTP, especially following a vacation or after a significant time with my family.
And very recently on my growth path I’ve run headfirst into 1 on 1 coaching, chairing a mastermind and mostly showcasing the rest of my life elements through high quality conversation and investment in the success of others & as identified in this podcast, I’m nearing my 40’s so the harmonizing flavor, is taking my “win, win, win” spiral dynamics 7 to my circle of influence and beyond.
The interesting part is I find that I have not reduced any of these disciplines or activities from my life, so I seem to benefit energetically from the extraverted interactions as much as I do from the introverted personal time, while at the same time suffering a majority of the downsides.
This almost provides a Chameleon like shifting outline for which discipline to get into in order to counteract the downsides of the others when I see them starting to affect a situation or my mood/energy.
This is easily the single most effective series I have listened to across all of your episodes, and yes I mean all. I’m pretty much done type-geeking for now and have a lot of things to accomplish.
Thank you so much! To Joel for ensuring I don’t feel like an outcast, and Antonia for the depth, detail and refreshing honesty.

Thanks for doing this series. I’ve found it delightfully clarifying.
