INTP female, mother. Just have to say I love this episode. Rarely do I come upon some insight that adds context to the way I experience Ti. Simplified and reconciled, I would call your “systems map” my version of comprehension. When I come upon a new data point, I apply it to my systems map, and it is never really stationary. Actually, I would say many of the data points are in constant motion. This is the “organized chaos” that is very well known, but not always well understood with INTs. Much of this does not translate easily, lol. But I have a 19yo INFP and a 13yo INT has helped so much with growth and expansion, especially with my INFP. Just knowing that INTPs aren’t traditionally great parents, understanding why, and using that knowledge to enhance our relationships has been invaluable. And constant exposure to a feeling type has really taught me to reconcile logic and emotion in a way that helps balance the two so they can coexist in a satisfactory way for me, and potentially for others.

You guys are the best MBTI podcasters in the world (as long as Love Who sticks to YouTube). That being stated, as an INFP I’d love to hear you guys do an in depth analysis on Fi logic vs. Ti logic. Maybe I’m just an odd INFP but I consider myself to be very logical. I could never hold a belief or value that I can’t defend from a logical framework. Even my religious beliefs are based on evidential reasoning. I cringe when I hear Fi described as being able to ignore logic and go with your feelings. I mean that’s ok for choosing a restaurant or some inconsequential thing but I don’t think the average INFP ignores logic or struggles with it when it concerns core values. Also, to ignore logic and do what you feel is borderline insanity.

Sometimes I think Keirsey’s description of “Thinking” being “Toughminded” and “Feeling” being “Friendly” is a more accurate way to look at the functions. I’ve heard others in the MBTI community say Ti and Fi are both highly logical functions. I tend to think Fi is people oriented logic while Ti is thing oriented logic. I just feel like there is more to this Ti/Fi dichotomy. They feel more similar than is often given credit and I feel oddly comfortable with the logic and accuracy of Ti for it being my 8th function. I also know I have INFP preferences. I love feelings, emotions, and self-reflection.

Hi I think if we didn’t use logic whether it’s introverted thinking or extroverted society would rely on their heart on how they feel as it says in the bible that the heart is treacherous who could know it our moods can fluctuate so we couldn’t have a crystal clear path to travel on and riding a bike on a road full of ice. Things would become blurry if we didn’t use logic either Ti or Te .
