Joel & Antonia: do you think calcification a function of type, circumstance, or something else?

I believe myself to be a type that many in the type community consider boring (ISFJ), and I can see how I might be viewed that way. Also, I often find other types that the type community believes to be exciting to be stultifying IRL. For example, my ENTP brother would never leave his couch and let go of his laptop if his ESTJ wife get in his face with a list of things she needs him to do.
