In this podcast you’ll find:
- What makes an experience genuinely fulfilling is a state of consciousness called ‘flow’.
- Written by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, he uses 4 or 5 different criteria in which doing the activity gives you energy as opposed to taking energy away. In flow, the activity feels like we’re powered with a self-energizing battery.
- In order to discover what your flow is, ask yourself what is it that you love to do so much the only reason you stop is when you’re exhausted?
- Some people know how to access their flow instantly.
- There are different things that can put people in flow. Flow feels very kinesthetic.
- Each personality type has a predictable flow state.
- Knowing your flow state means knowing which mental process your brain favors above others.
- ENPs are difficult to get into flow. The exploration process has you seeing relationships that other people don’t.
- Some people only experience flow when they know they don’t have distractions.
- Knowing when and how you get into flow can explain a lot about your behavior and patterns.
Exercise we recommend in this podcast:
- Sit down and make a list of 3-5 things where you are in a flow state. This can figure out some of your best ideas. How do you get into those activities? How do you get there? What is something I love doing so much, the only reason I stop is when I’m exhausted? Look for the patterns and think how you can deliberately incorporate that into your life.

Hi, I just wanted to share an observation I had when thinking of activities I enjoy, after listening to this podcast episode. I thought of four and noticed that they lined with my cognitive functions as an INTP: (1) writing out and dissecting my thoughts, (2) adventures, (3) collecting information, and (4) bringing people together. Although I question whether collecting information is Si, or rather Ti. For Si, I do like planning my days from time to time, even if I don’t always strictly adhere to it. I started out with activities I enjoy, because I don’t really get into flow very often, or for very long. But I do remember a period of time several years ago where I was in flow almost every day. I organized my daily activities with to do lists and a syllabus, then flitted through each activity as I felt like it. Sometimes things didn’t go according to how I planned it, but that was okay as long as I completed the high priority tasks and a few of the fun ones. I’m trying to find that flow again.
What is the predicted flow “activity” for an INFJ?
Thank you, seems like such a night and day difference from the north to the south. I am currently under going therapy dog training in hopes one of my dogs will pass to visit hospitals and nursing homes.
I have also thought about started a book club to meet people.
Trust me in the 8 years I have been here I have tried what I feel like is everything to get myself out there. Right now I am just trying to find inner peace with being here until an opening comes within the company to go back home.
Which thank goodness I love my job and my company :)
I moved from the west coast to the east coast and found a very different dynamic spiritually and politically. I’ve been here two years and am just beginning to feel like I am getting back in flow. (I’m an INFJ too.) First, I had to find work that filled my needs for growth, learning, and harmony (extraverted feeling). Then I started reaching out to different people whose energy I resonated with. INFJs can be found in a lot of healing arts, like massage, chiropractic, acupuncture, hypnotherapy, etc. And a lot of intuitives frequent such places. Networking with such people can broaden your horizons. Book stores, metaphysical stores, and health stores draw intuitives and usually have community boards where you can expand your tribe. Your co-pilot is Harmony, which means you should be reaching out to people and actively looking for ways to get out of your head and into the outside world….otherwise, INFJs can become stuck in a cycle of criticism and perfection that isn’t healthy. So, ultimately it is up to you to regain your flow. You have to work at it. It might feel monumental right now, but the rewards are worth it. I hope that helps!
INFJ I took the free test working on saving up for the other test.
